The culprit seems to be Ambrogio, the owner of the company, who had long suspected that his wife, twenty years his junior, was cheating on him with the victim. Tommasi breaks his leg and has to move to the Cecchini house, where the marshal, who feels guilty for what happened, will end up exasperating the poor captain, the victim of too attentive care.

Just as the famous Gubbio guitarist Gloria Porrini is promoting her tour in Gubbio, a well-known luthier, who turns out to be her father, is found dead. Unexpectedly, the young artist is accused of the crime. Tommasi finds an old childhood friend who came to Gubbio as a coroner. According to Cecchini, she is the right woman for the captain.
