The Inferno is the 8th season of the MTV reality game show, The Challenge. The season is directly subsequent to The Gauntlet. The Inferno aired in 2004. The season was composed of twenty cast members, and took place in Acapulco, Mexico. In this challenge, the winning teams would receive a prize at the end of each mission. They would then nominate two players from their team to the Inferno elimination challenge. Unlike The Gauntlet, there would be another challenge with an immunity life-saver up for grabs before the Inferno. Each team then selected one of the two nominees from the opposing team to go into the Inferno. This is the first edition of The Inferno series, with The Inferno II following in 2005 and The Inferno 3 following in 2007.

Saturn Valet Ballet
Mike and Kendal hit it off, but their burgeoning relationship hits a snag when it comes to the Inferno. Also, the teams take part in the Saturn Valet Ballet challenge, which requires them to move five cars in order to get a Saturn Ion to a valet stand.
Window Washing
The teams compete in a window-washing challenge, which requires them to scale a building. Also: Mike and Kendal make up despite Mike's childish behavior; both teams must send a female to the Inferno.
The Final Burn
David and Katie take part in the final Inferno, which requires them to lie in a Plexiglass coffin filled with fish heads; and new disgusting items are added every half hour. The teams then take part in the final challenge, which is a foot race with various obstacles along the way.
Handsome Reward
The eighth season wraps up with the "Real World" team starting off well despite its smaller squad. Also: the winning team is awarded $150,000; and new cars.

The Inferno
